Sea Beyond by Prada

Italian fashion luxury house, Prada has teamed up with IOC (Unesco’s Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission) to launch an educational program (Sea Beyond) for secondary schools on a global scale to raise awareness for issues surrounding ocean preservation and sustainability.

After a year of launching the Sea Beyond program - it has now been completed.

Their aim was to educate students about being mindful and responsible in their behaviors towards the environment specifically the ocean and promoting a sustainable consumption of these resources.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, a range of high school teachers in 10 cities globally namely Berlin, Cape Town, Lisbon, London, Mexico City, Milan, New York, Paris, Shanghai and Venice, took part in webinars conducted by the UNESCO-IOC experts. From these webinars, they received in-depth training on how to execute modules based around these topics being the dedicated theme of ocean sustainability as well as a tool kit to encourage this learning put into practice.

According to the Prada Group, "the promotion of culture and education is an integral part of the sustainability strategy. The collaboration with Unesco embraces this path and translates it into a direct channel of communication with students around the world. We are proud to see the creation of an ocean awareness project from what was initially a product innovation and sustainable materials initiative."

An incredible initiative by the Prada Group that since the launch have gained positive media coverage and plays as an example in the fashion industry as a whole to follow.

If you would like to attend the whole event, it will be live-streamed on www.pradagroup.com, starting from 2.00 pm CET on 26th, March 2021.
